For fun, and congrats to Cody
I just want to say good job to Cody, who won the juggling contest Tuesday... I can see a few of you have been working on it! This video is for fun, it follows Cristiano Ronaldo (who is from Portugal) on and off field. It shows him juggling a few times, and even how he uses his juggling abilities in games. Keep practicing your juggling, we'll have another contest Tuesday. Make sure you also check out the other two posts from today, they have info important for the game tomorrow.

Read before the game tomorrow

This is the same diagram posted before, but please take a minute to click on in and go over the soccer positions we discussed. It will be important to stay in the positions we put you in, during the game. Remember, fullbacks are defenders, and it is very important for them to stay between the ball and the goal. If you are a fullback, and take off with the midfielders and forwards, the other team will have an easy time scoring on us! This happened a couple times at practice.
Forwards and midfielders, stay on your assigned side. If you are a left forward, stay on the left side, so the right and center have someone to pass it to if they get in trouble.
Last, I just want to say- I was very impressed at practice Tuesday. A couple kids who were quite timid during the first game, really hustled and were aggressive at practice! Let's see some of that tomorrow!
Go Yellow Jackets!

Real Salt Lake- Shooting
These are some good tips on shooting the ball. Let's all work on this so we can get some goals tomorrow! One thing I noticed he said is accuracy is more important that power... So make sure your non-kicking foot is aimed at the goal. After you watch this, get out and practice it!

My bad guys we'll get em next time.

I am anxious to see you all at practice on Tuesday. We have so much to learn. I made a silly little diagram because all of the instructional you tube video was for more than eight players. Unfortunately the text is not visible so I will pass that info on to you Tuesday. If you click on it it will bring up an expanded version that is a bit easier to see. You all did good on Saturday, but I think that other team had more practice than we did. Don't worry about it guys we are going to make a comeback next Saturday! If you guys don't mind I am going to give you some feedback. The good things about Saturday's game was that you didn't get discouraged after the other team scored, you guys ran yourselves silly out there! I saw some passing going on and would like to see more next game.
Some of the things we could work on is being more aggressive about going after the ball, moving the ball forward, throw ins and moving fast enough as to not let the other team set up and prepare themselves. Thanks to the Dads that helped out coaching Saturday. I find that during a game I can't be everywhere at once, so like baseball's first base coach we could have a goalie adviser. All Dads and Moms are welcome to give encouragement and tips to their boys from the sidelines. See you all Tuesday.

Passing
This is another video from the Real Salt Lake player. Because soccer is a team sport, a very important skill we'll work on is passing. Saturday make sure you are looking for open team mates to pass the ball to. We all want to score and win... one of the best ways to do that is passing the ball when there is a good opportunity! See you Saturday.

TEAM NAME
What would you like our team name to be?
Put your suggestion in the comments, and we'll vote on Tuesday. By the way, for those of you who haven't got the jersey yet... our color is bright yellow, if that helps you in thinking of a team name. If you haven't got a uniform, I can drop it off or bring it for you Tuesday. Let me know if you are in town and want it sooner than Tuesday.

Welcome to soccer!
Hey team, welcome to soccer...
It was good to meet with some of you today, and for now I'll just post a short instructional video from a Real Salt Lake player... Practice what you learn- we'll talk about it and work on it at practice on Tuesday.
Oh, and check out this kid... He's only a year or two older than you.
